William Heppner

June 23, 1951 — October 5, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dad, William Heppner on October 5, 2020, at the age of 69, at his residence in Steinbach.

Dad was born in Altona on June 23, 1951 to Anton and Margaret Heppner. He was the second of 10 children. Dad married mom, Ruth Friesen of Halbstadt, MB on October 31, 1971 in Altona. It did not take long for little ones to join the family. They were blessed with a son, Bill and two daughters, Pam and Heather.

Though dad did not finish grade 8 as a child, he had a sharp mind and was always seeking greater knowledge. He encouraged his children to get a higher education and was beyond thrilled when Heather received her nursing degree in 2015. Dad had many jobs throughout his life, but the one he most talked about and liked was operating heavy equipment on the pipeline.

When he was not out working, he took pleasure in flying his plane, riding his motorcycle, but most of all giving/sharing rides with his grandchildren. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his proudest blessings, and everyone around him knew it.

William is survived by his wife Ruth Heppner, son Bill (Sharon) Heppner, grandchildren Beth, Luke; daughter Pam (Marc) Engbrecht, grandchildren Brandyn, Kayla (Agilo) Hiebert, Courtney (fiance Alex), Tori, Reegan, great-grandchildren Elena and Malakai Hiebert; daughter Heather, grand-daughter Jerilyn.

We are confident that dad is whole in mind, body and spirit and in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, who he so desired his family and friends to put their eternal trust in.

A private graveside service was held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Hochstadt Cemetery near Altona, Manitoba.
