Roseline Loewen

September 18, 1924 — November 27, 2020

Roseline Loewen (nee Friesen), was born September 18, 1924 to John R. and Mary (Dueck) Friesen in Kleefeld, Manitoba. She married Isaac J. Loewen in 1952 and together they operated a dairy farm in the Giroux area until 1969.

A self-proclaimed bookworm, Roseline began a career in education in the early 1950s, after receiving a teaching permit through the Winnipeg Normal School. She taught elementary school in Rosenort and a one room schoolhouse in Joffre (R.M. of La Broquerie) from 1950 – 1952. She met Isaac during this time and soon gave up her teaching position to become a wife to a farmer.

Roseline did not entirely give up on teaching, as she taught Sunday School in Ridgewood E.M.C. Church for many years and served as a substitute teacher in public school when they moved to Blumenort. Sewing was another one of her many passions, so this led to teaching 4-H sewing classes in her spare time.

Mom had an adventurous spirit, perhaps inherited from her father and relished taking trips, including periods of employment as a young woman in BC and Ontario, and then with family both within Canada and internationally. But she was likely most thrilled to travel with Isaac, just the two of them, on fishing trips within Manitoba and NW Ontario.

On November 27, 2020, Roseline passed away peacefully, in her sleep, from complications due to Covid-19 at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Steinbach. She will be sadly cherished by son, Darrel; daughter Rhonda and husband Joe; daughter Shannon and husband Russ; grandchildren Matthew (Marina) and Dustin and great-grandchildren Remington and Isabella. She is also mourned by sisters and in-laws, Mathilda Eidse, Carol and Vern Janzen, brother Laurence and Linda Friesen, Gordon and Nita Friesen as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Roseline was predeceased by her husband Isaac J. Loewen, parents, four sisters and one brother.

A short and private graveside ceremony will be observed by the immediate family at the Ridgewood EMC Cemetery, Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the dedicated staff at Rest Haven Nursing Home for their wonderful care for mom over the last 3 years.

Donations in memory of Roseline may be made to the Haven Group or EMC Missions.
