Pierre Lafournaise

May 20, 1951 — May 10, 2020

It is with the greatest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend Pierre J Lafournaise.

Dad was predeceased by his parents Donalda (nee: Perreault) Napoleon Lafournaise and his brother Rene.

Dad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Michelle “Mickey”, son Russell, stepdaughters Crystal and Shanna (Martin), stepsons Harold, Dean and Tom. Sisters Collette (Larry), Irene (Maurice), Anna and Rita, brother Jean (Jocelyn), grandchildren Delayne (Riley), Daryl (Kate), Hope (Kirby), Destiny (Nick), Jaydon, Tyson, Tyanna and the apple of his eye Mason. Great grandchildren Kayden, Asher, Ava and Colten. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Dad was born on 20th of May, 1951. The fourth child of seven. When dad was 30, he became the very proud father of his only biological child Russell from his first marriage.

On September 9, 1989 dad met his match Mickey Gibbs. On December 27, 1992 the two became one when Mom became his “awful” wedded wife. They loved each other and spent 30 glorious years together.

Dad worked many construction jobs over his 68 years. He also worked with his friends Gerry Dumont and Roger “bullet” Gosselin as a farm hand. No matter what job he was performing he was always invaluable.

Dad had a very gruff exterior but those who knew him well we’re privileged to know he had a warm, loving heart. Dad was also quick witted and had a sarcasm and humour that would have you doubled over in laughter with tears streaming down your face. Dad was an avid outdoorsman who loves hunting and fishing. He and mom also loved gardening and the planting of flowers. You could always see the pride on his face and the gleam in his eye when complemented on how amazing his gardens were and how their yard resembles the park.

A celebration of life will happen on a date to be determined, when we can all gather together and toast his life and celebrate who he was to each of us.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the paramedics, RCMP and fire department for their kindness, courteousness and compassion shown that fateful Sunday morning.

A special thank you also to Rob Hiebert of Crossings Funeral Care for his compassion, care and time.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
