Laurie Hanney

September 23, 1955 — April 21, 2021

God forgive us when we sin,
Help us start to begin,
To follow Jesus in his way,
And be more loving day by day.
Guide and keep us in thy care,
At play, at sleep, and everywhere.

Laurie May Hanney, born in Guelph, ON, who was a loving and devoted mother of two children, Drew Hanney and Tara Hanney (Walker), departed peacefully into the arms of Jesus from her bed at her home with her son by her side on April 21st, 2021 at 11:27am.

Like the poem she wrote above, at 9 years of age, Laurie was a devoted believer and follower of Christ Jesus and Our Father God which she encapsulated through her everyday spirit. Regardless of any of the trials and tribulations in her life's journey, she showed perseverance, understanding, nurturing, a zest for love and happiness with a brave and courageous fighting spirit and it is survived today by her son Drew.

A passion for athletics and the outdoors, Laurie was a Provincial track champion, avid animal lover, and indulged in the arts, with a zeal for music, cinema, and writing. She was the epitome of a hockey mom, loved the Leafs, but revered Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman. Laurie adored and cherished Sauble Beach; her slice of Heaven on earth.

Her memories and spirit will live on, forever and always; rest peacefully in the light of the Kingdom of Heaven.

"Peace, Love, No Hairgrease Big Ups."

"Two strongs make a right, pray and take it day by day."

A private Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 29th, at 11am at Crossings Funeral Care.
