Kathryn (Tina) Jansen

October 21, 1977 — September 15, 2020

On the morning of September 15, 2020, Kathryn Jansen peacefully fell asleep, and was carried by the angels to the bosom of her Saviour, there to forever rest from all pain and sorrow. The oldest of five children, Kathryn was born to Benjamin and Maria Carrasco on October 21,1977, in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Benjamin and Anna Miller, her grandfather Cornelius Giesbrecht, and four uncles. She will be greatly missed by her son Isaac, parents Ben and Mary Carrasco, her siblings Lena and Peter Schmidt with children Hannah and husband James Enns, James, Hans, Coralee, Tamara, and Cephas; Cory and Diana Carrasco with children Liam and Macy; Cindy Miller with daughter Isabella; Carlos and Amanda Miller with children Cara, Paco, Axl, and Rico; and many friends and extended family.

As a young woman, Kathryn warmed many hearts by her love and devotion to the children she babysat. She cared for them as though they were her own, taking them on picnics and outings, and giving them memories to cherish for life. Through the many bitter trials, which she patiently suffered during her last eight years, her beloved son Isaac was the joy of her life. She spent countless hours home-schooling him and making his life enjoyable. Kathryn struggled with cancer for the last year, but she never stopped fighting or hoping for a full recovery. She had a childlike faith in God that enabled her to cling to His Word through even the hardest times. However, in her final months, she increasingly desired to go home and be with Christ. And though we deeply mourn our loss, we rejoice to know that she has gained her eternal prize.

A public come and go viewing will be held from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Crossings Funeral Care, 12E-40 North Gate Drive, Hwy 12 North, Steinbach. For invited guests, viewing will be from 12 pm to 1 pm, with a private funeral service at 1 pm.

Interment will take place at the Heritage Cemetery following the service.
