Dianne (Olfert) Engbrecht

June 19, 1960 ~ May 3, 2020 (age 59)

Obituary

During the morning of May 3, 2020, Dianne Engbrecht passed away at the age of 59 in her home in La Broquerie West. During the final hours of her life she was surrounded by the family she spent her life caring for so very deeply. We celebrate her freedom from her suffering here on earth but know that she will leave a very empty space in our lives.

Dianne was predeceased by her father Isaac Olfert and father-in-law Henry Engbrecht. She will be dearly missed by her husband Dan Engbrecht, son Kyle, daughter-in-law Brittany, her very precious grandsons Easton and Nathaniel and surrogate daughter Goldie Tacan as well as her mother Martha Penner, her four sisters Karen, Lorna, Maria and Tracy, mother-in-law Betty Engbrecht, brother-in-law Marc and sister-in-law Patricia and all extended families.

Life as the eldest daughter on a farm meant Dianne had to help out by taking on responsibilities preparing meals and caring for her four sisters. By the age of four, Dianne had mastered the art of milking cows and could be found teaching the skill to her city cousins. She was a brave and independent teenager and would often head off across the prairie miles on a snowmobile to babysitting jobs, youth events and visiting friends.

At the age of 19, a surprise visit from mutual friends led to her introduction to ‘Computer Dan’. Two years later they married and began their 38 and a half year adventure. Their son Kyle was born in 1990 and later the same year, through their work at Camp Arnes, Goldie became a part of their family. Several years down the road Dianne and Dan ventured into the world of the restaurant and catering business. Dianne’s skill for understanding the presentation of cuisine served her well in this business. Her gift for hospitality spilled into her personal life as she and Dan loved to host guests and share their home with many.

A true testament to the love Dianne poured into young adults she employed is evident in the words of one young man, Stew Holdich, who shared this memory, “What a story she had and couldn’t really script any better. All the challenges she conquered and helped others overcome with her energy, positivity, leadership, understanding, loyalty, faith and love. Her mission on earth was accomplished for sure!”

We are so grateful for the many expressions of love poured out on us through this journey, whether through prayer, visits, meals, financial support or a listening ear. We are confident of this, Dianne is now at home with the Lord and Saviour she so desired others to know in their own hearts.
