Acacia Goertzen

September 19, 2005 — August 8, 2021

Our hearts ache as we announce the sudden passing of Acacia Grace Goertzen from Roseau River, Manitoba. On Sunday, August 8th, 2021, at 15 years of age Acacia went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an absolute blessing to her family and friends.

Acacia came into this world on September 19th, 2005, in Steinbach, Manitoba. A third daughter for Duane and Sylvia, a baby sister for Isabelle and Sophie. Acacia spent her first years living on site at Roseau River Bible Camp and at age 5 moved to a country yard north of Roseau River. She was homeschooled with her sisters on their family acreage, caring for animals, helping with the home and learning to trust in Jesus at a young age. She was an easygoing, down to earth girl with a servant heart. In addition to any social gathering, she enjoyed creatives like art, baking, cake decorating, hair styling, sewing, and hoped to pursue more photography in the years to come.

Acacia was willing. Willing to help, willing to work; whatever needed doing, she was ready. Her testimony to Christ shone through her disposition and kindness. It was her joy to spend much of her time helping others and working with children at RRBC, where her family works in ministry.

Acacia was an active part of the local homeschool and youth group, and regularly volunteered at the Union Gospel Mission in Winnipeg. She also enjoyed job opportunities of working at a strawberry farm, at Penner Signs, and at a local gravel pit. Her future plans were to start grade 11, improve her piano and hopefully obtain her drivers license. Her absence will be felt by everyone who knew her.

Her heart’s desire was for everyone to be convinced, like she was, of God’s unchanging love for them: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Left to grieve are her mom and dad, Duane & Sylvia, and her four sisters: Isabelle (19) and fiancé Joseph Dueck, Payton (13), Willow (11), and Ember (6). Grandparents: Peter & Marilyn Goertzen and Hans & Helen Sawatzky. Aunts and Uncles: Chuck & Danea Lawrenson, Joel & Barb Goertzen, Jon & Megan Goertzen, Lisa Goertzen, Ryan & Laura Allain, and Miranda Sawatzky.  Dear cousins: Mercer & Rachelle, Celeste, Heath, Avril, Phoebe, Takis, Sonnet and Bronte Lawrenson; Jireh, Bowen, Rylan and Sierra Goertzen; Silas, Kingston and Skylah Goertzen; Norah and Tristan Allain.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm in the Roseau River Bible Camp Chapel. An outdoor funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 4:00pm at Roseau River Bible Camp. Please bring lawn chairs if you are planning to attend the service.
