Wiliam (Bill) Arthur Walford

March 5, 1945 — December 21, 2025

William “Bill” Arthur Walford, age 80, of Dominion City, Manitoba (formerly of Rosa, MB), passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, with his family by his side.

Dad was predeceased by those he loved who went before him and is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Diane; his two sons, Ken (Shaun) and Rob (Rachel); and his cherished grandchildren, Brendon, Keenan, Kiera and RayAnne. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Linda) and family as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was born on March 5, 1945, in Fort William, Ontario. He was a loyal husband, a loving father, a devoted grandfather, and a kind friend to many. He was a quiet source of strength, guidance, and steadiness for his family. His kindness, wisdom, and loyalty shaped the lives of everyone who knew him. Above all else, Dad took immense pride in his family.

Dad and Mom raised their two sons in Rosa, Manitoba, building a life grounded in hard work, love, and togetherness. In his early twenties, Dad moved to Winnipeg, where he later married the love of his life, Diane Bodnarchuk, on August 10, 1968. Their marriage was one of deep devotion, mutual respect, and pure love. Being by her side until his final moments was exactly where he wanted to be.

In his younger years , Dad enjoyed hockey—often joking about using Sears catalogues as shin pads—along with boxing, football, and fishing. He spent many years working as a supervisor at Versatile Manufacturing in Winnipeg. Together with mom and their boys, he also owned and operated the Rosa store, gas pumps, and post office, keeping the doors open seven days a week. When Dad wasn’t working, he could usually be found in his shop. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or fabricate and he approached every task with patience, skill, and care. He never hesitated to help others and never expected recognition for it—he simply did what needed to be done. He was known as one of the hardest-working men around, always willing to lend a hand.

Dad was an incredibly proud father who loved his two sons beyond measure. He led them not only through words, but by example—showing them the value of hard work, honesty, humility, and taking care of family. He was always someone the boys could rely on throughout their lives.

Dad’s greatest joy came from being a grandfather. He loved his grandchildren fiercely and showed it in countless ways—whether it was babysitting RayAnne, proudly watching Brendon and Keenan play hockey, or sharing a special bond with Kiera. A bond built on time spent together, encouragement, and a presence she could always count on. He and mom were constant, familiar faces in the stands, always there, always supportive, always proud.

“His strength was quiet, his heart was generous, and his love will continue to guide us for the rest of our lives.”

A service to celebrate Dad’s life will be announced at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the care and compassion you provided to our Dad in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Roseau Crossing Heritage Park and Pool, Dominion City Curling Club, Dominion City Arena, Kyle Memorial Golf Course or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
