In Loving Memory of Thomas Duku Neorh
Thomas Duku Neorh, was born May 15 1968 in Murray Town, Rivercess County, Liberia, West Africa. He passed away August 20 2026 at Bethesda Hospital Steinbach Manitoba , age 58 years.
He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and member of the Liberian community in Manitoba. He was the devoted husband of Evelyn and the loving father of five children: Sharon, Moses, Thomas Jr., Victor, and Blessing. Thomas and Evelyn were married on October 8 2011 at Harbel Field House at Harbel Firestone in Margibi County Liberia West Africa.
Thomas struggled for many months in his unexpected battle with cancer, yet through it all his faith remained strong. He held firmly to his hope in Jesus Christ, and his testimony spoke clearly of who Jesus was to him throughout his life. Even in suffering, Thomas continued to trust in the goodness and faithfulness of God.
Throughout his life, Thomas was always about God’s business. He lived with conviction, spoke truthfully and directly into people’s lives, and showed deep love for his wife, his children, and his community. His greatest desire was for Evelyn and their children to join him here in Canada. Though that desire did not come to pass, Thomas remained strong in his faith and continued to trust God with his life and future.
Although Thomas was with us in Manitoba for only the past two years, he made many meaningful and lasting connections within the Liberian community. Those who knew him will remember his sincerity, his courage, his love for others, and his unwavering devotion to Christ.
Today, we look at Thomas’s life not only with sadness for what has been lost, but with gratitude for what has been gained in heaven. Thomas is no longer in pain or sorrow. He is in the presence of his Saviour, restored to perfect health, and seated where suffering can no longer touch him.
Thomas has gone before us, leaving behind a testimony that reminds us our days are numbered. His life calls each of us to look inward and ask, “Who is Jesus to me?” and, “When I face hard struggles, will I have the strength of faith to carry me through?”
The theme of Thomas’s life was simple and powerful: God is faithful. His favourite song, “Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know,” reflected the faith he carried in his heart and the hope that sustained him until the end.
