Ruth Eileen Froese

Jul 23, 1939 — Jul 7, 2026

Ruth Eileen Froese (Wohlgemuth) was born on July 23, 1939, to Frank and Elizabeth Wohlgemuth in Steinbach, Manitoba. She passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, with her children by her side.

Mom was baptized on November 18, 1951, by Min. John M. Penner. Her faith was precious to her until the end.

Mom had a straightforward personality and was not afraid to express how she felt. But she also knew how to say she was sorry. Her relationships with others were important to her. We will cherish the visits we had with her. Mom had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She enjoyed sharing humorous happenings.

Mom was a skilled seamstress. This was something she continued doing until very close to the end. In her younger years as a mother, she sewed many of our clothes and blankets herself. Although she was very weak due to her stroke, she was able to give a completed blanket to her youngest great-grandchild, Harriet Ruth, two days before her passing. Many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have received her blankets. Mom was not idle and usually had a project on the go. Cleanliness and order were important to her. The home place had many flowers and a large garden. She also baked many delicious cinnamon rolls and enjoyed preparing full Sunday dinners.

Mom and Dad lived in Sinclair, Manitoba, for many years. They spent a few years in Altona, Manitoba, until Dad’s passing.

We are very grateful to the Brandon congregation, who took Mom in after Dad died. You treated her so specially. She became a grandma to many there. It was hard for her to leave when it became apparent that she needed more care.

Her sunset years were spent at Maplewood Manor. She filled a special place there and loved to connect with those who cared for her. A big thank you to Maplewood Manor for caring for her and making her last years so enjoyable.

On the evening of June 29, Mom suffered a stroke that took her speech and left her partially paralyzed. For a while, we thought she would rally, but it soon became obvious that she would be leaving us. As a family, we are thankful she did not have to suffer long and that we were able to spend some final days with her while she was still able to communicate with us in a limited way. One of her daughters asked her if she could accept that Jesus could forgive her if she had done wrong. She nodded yes. We are at peace knowing that she is free.

Those of her family left behind are her children: Ralph and Mavis Froese of Sinclair, Manitoba; Sharon Toews of Stettler, Alberta; Brian Froese of Nova Scotia; Garry and Inez Froese of Brandon, Manitoba; Ken Froese of Enderby, British Columbia; Tannis and Heath Dirks of Durham, Kansas; and Wayne and Laura Froese of Steinbach, Manitoba; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and their families, three sisters-in-law and their families, and six brothers-in-law and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis; one son-in-law, Wayne Toews; one granddaughter, Ranelle Froese; and three brothers.
