Our dear husband, dad, and grandpa gained his angel wings on May 17, 2025, at Moosomin Hospital, Moosomin, SK.
Raymond Braun was born to Glen and Leona (Isaac) Braun on December 13, 1959, in Reston, MB. Dad grew up on the family farm near Sinclair, MB, receiving his 11 years of schooling at the Bardell, Sinclair and Reston public schools.
During his young youth days, Dad surrendered his will to God, which resulted in a lifelong relationship with his Lord and Maker. Devotions and church attendance where important to him and his steadfast desire was for him and his family to reach the great reward. He was always ready to back down and say sorry. Dad was never afraid to guide us on the path of truth and firmly reprove our attitudes and behavior, entreating us to make choices that would bring us inside the pearly gates. Our Dad had a big heart for those that were hurting and accepted them for who they were.
On June 24, 1984, Ray married me, Audrey Dueck, at Swanson SK. We joined hands for life, enjoying almost 41 years together. The Lord blessed us with three children April, Lisa, and Matthew.
Despite some health setbacks Dad provided well for us. He enjoyed carpentry, farming, working in the pig barns, also worked at Cromer store and for Dan Isaac. He especially enjoyed the years he spent at Ranchers Welding.
Dad's road of health was strewn with boulders, which he uncomplainingly faced. He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 11, which affected his life in many ways. The disease attacked his kidneys and he and us will be forever grateful to his sister Marj who gave him one of hers 19 years ago. This allowed Dad more years of health and freedom. Dad faced disappointments with his health challenges, particularly a failed pancreas transplant, but he always submitted to God's plan for his life. Even when he wished things were different and easier, his example of "in acceptance there is peace" helped us learn to accept our own roads and difficulties. The last few years especially, Dad endured many hospital stays, and as his body weakened his desire for Heaven grew. We are thankful God has released him from his worn-out earthly body and given him a new heavenly body that feels no tiredness or pain. It strengthens our desire to meet him on the other shore.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife Audrey, daughters April Baerg (Malia, Tenley, ShaeLynn, Brielle) Westlock, AB, son-in-law Corwin Baerg Stony Plain, AB, Lisa & Waylon Swarey (Spencer, Brady, Savanna) Mifflinburg, PA, son Matt & Bethany (Keegan, Kayo) Sinclair, MB, daughter of his heart, Cindy & Doug Koehn (Logan, Grayson, Morgan) Burns, KS, presently serving in Kenya. Ray's family, his mother Leona Braun, Marj & Brian Ursel, Cam & Gloria Braun, Alice Janzen, brother-in-law Monroe Janzen. His in-laws: Peter & Rose Dueck, Maxine & Wendell Toews, Linda & Arley Wohlgemuth, Ruby & Jay Wohlgemuth, Marie Dueck, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law.
