Marcel Saltel

August 19, 1942 — May 12, 2024

Peacefully with his family by his side, Marcel Saltel passed away at Ste Anne Hospital on May 12, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Antoine and Yvonne (nee Ross), his siblings Roger and Anne Marie, his granddaughter Jordynn and numerous in-laws.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years; Jeannette, children; Denise (Daryl), Marc, Lise (Ron), grandchildren; Brenden, Kylie and Michaela.  He will also be sadly missed by his sisters Jeannine (Roland) and Lucille, his brothers-in-law Roland (Cathy), Louis and Rene, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Marcel made a career of being a loader operator at Lafarge for 36 years. After retirement, he was able to spend more time doing the things he loved to do around his family farm in Ste Genevieve, where he was born, raised and lived his entire life.  Marcel was a well-respected, hardworking man who took interest in many hobbies including cutting wood, general farm work such as raising cattle, making hay with his 1963 D12 Allis-Chalmers, carpentry work and building fences. Nobody could build a fence like he could, as he was very precise and took pride in his workmanship.

When Marcel took time away from working on his farm, he found pleasure berry picking, eating A&W Chubby Chicken burgers, and going on various day and weekend trips to his children’s cabins. He also enjoyed going to Antique Stores and Garage Sales to expand his collection of License Plates and clocks. You could always rely on him having a pocketful of peppermints, which he would gladly share.   He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to the staff at Ste Anne Hospital for their care and compassion, as well as his Homecare providers, Bev and Carol.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fonds Hospital Ste Anne Hospital Fund or a charity of their choosing.

At his request, a funeral service will not be held.
