Lois Fay Dueck

October 15, 1967 — May 21, 2024

Let us tell you about Lois my daughter, our sister and aunty, your best friend. Lois was one of the friendliest people we knew. Wherever she went she told people "Hi!". When she went to church she met visitors even if she had no clue who they were.

Lois was full of the joy of living, scattering sunshine everywhere. She made you feel like you were her best friend, and you were! Was it perhaps because she was completely satisfied with who she was? Dad’s steady unconditional acceptance of her and Mom’s dedicated love and care created an environment where she flourished.

She lived life slowly, finding pleasure in little things. Her giggle and enthusiasm were infectious. The most fun for us nieces and nephews at Dueck Christmas gatherings was watching Lois’ anticipation of giving her gifts away. She also loved the good food. Lois wasn’t just any aunty, she was "Aunty Lois"! She was so excited about each one of her 56 birthdays!!

Lois Fay was a special unexpected gift from God, given to us, Wilmer and Carol, on October 15, 1967 together with her twin Leslie Ray. She always possessively referred to him as ‘my twin’. Her brothers adored and protected her. Her sisters played, loved and laughed with her. She had a sparkle in her blue green eyes, a refreshing sense of humor and her daddy's gentle teasing way. It took a village, a parade of ladies, who entered our home to help her learn. They taught her how to crawl and walk, read and write, and got her ready for school. It opened up her world. She loved school, she loved her teachers.

Her parents have always been grateful for the help and Mom would like to take this opportunity to thank each one.

In spare time she spent hours transcribing poetry and prose from books into scribblers and notebooks. She taught us perseverance – tirelessly working plastic canvas, crocheting, covering wire coat hangers with fabric, faithfully working at Kindale Occupational Center for 25 years. Her responsible nature made her a good worker. She was happy if mom left the dishwasher for her to empty.

She taught us loving care with all the cards and love notes she made and gave away liberally. The hugs that she freely handed out, affirmations she poured out - "I love you", "you’re special", "you are sweet". She taught us sensitivity by her sensitive nature. Her unconditional love taught us love.

Lois was sad when dad left eight years ago, but reassured mom that "Everything will be alright".

After a brief illness she gained her wings on May 21, 2024. Although her leaving has left a big hole, we are thankful God set her free and she is safe with Dad. Those left with precious memories are her mom Carol Dueck, Leslie & Rhaea - Ste Anne MB, Arden & Monica - Beausejour MB, Marcus & Jackie - Ste Anne MB, Errol & Linda - Elsie NE, Joyce & Sam Friesen - Ste Anne MB and Kayla & Galen Reimer - Fort Vermilion AB, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Thank you to the friends at Maplewood Manor for your excellent care.
