Judith Gracie Marie Hiebert

August 3, 1948 — April 4, 2026

It is with a blend of joy for her life and sorrow for our loss that we share the news of Judy Hiebert’s passing. She departed peacefully in the quiet hours of the morning with her husband by her side. At 77 they shared a beautiful 55 years of marriage. Her journey was ended due to aggressive dementia and finally twisted bowel complications.

Judy is predeceased by a son, Daryl Hiebert as well as her parents, Peter and Mary Born and her parents-In-law, Peter and Sarah Hiebert.

Judy’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Peter, and their children Pamela Reimer and her children Kendall (Dylan Mills) and Gavin; son Travis and his wife Audrey, along with their children Troy and Amy (Malachi) and great-grandson Dakota. She is also fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law Corrie Van Aertselaer and granddaughters Evangeline, Clementine and Mirabel, as well as cherished by her brother Bruce [Bev] Born.

Born in Winkler Manitoba on August 3rd 1948, Judy spent her early years on the family farm near MacGregor. She attended school in the Valley Stream School district, sharing stories of scary walks through the bush to get to class and the fear of her strict teacher. She vowed never to marry a teacher, farmer or Mennonite. Never say never…Peter was all three. During her elementary years her family moved to Brandon where she attended David Livingstone and Neelin High Schools.

Judy took pride in her family’s musical roots. Gifted with a beautiful, rich alto voice, it was her moving performance of ‘He the Pearly Gates Will Open’ one Sunday that opened Peter’s eyes to her beauty. The two were wed on August 16, 1970.

Judy generously shared her talents as singer and pianist in church and community. Faith was central to Judy. She hosted Bible study groups for youth and adults, warmly offering her home.

An iconic homemaker and mother, Judy’s heart was home and family. She found joy in simple beauties of life- tending gardens, watching the birds, baking and holding a baby.

Of their 55 years of marriage, Judy and Peter built a life across many communities. They spent 31 years near Carroll, Manitoba, 2 adventurous years in Brazil, 6 years in Teulon, 13 years in New Bothwell and finally Winnipeg these last 4 years.

In her teens, Judy decided to follow Jesus, was baptized and dedicated herself to following and serving her Lord. Her journey was filled with miracles and God-wonders. Among her many favourite scriptures was Psalm 34:8. “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
