John Menno Stoesz

June 26, 1950 — July 10, 2023

John Menno Stoesz, age 73, passed away on July 10, 2023 at his home in Niverville, Manitoba.

John was born on June 26, 1950, in Steinbach, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm by Randolph.  John was the fifth of seven children.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years; Denise, son; Clinton (Pamela), daughter; Adrienne, along with his grandchildren Keegan, Erik, Kamrin, Liam and Eleanor,  siblings; Alvin (Traute), Cornie, Willie (Noami), Barbara (Cornie), Andy (Debbie), and Larry, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Barbara.

John worked as an electrician, locally and up north, his last job was with CN Rail before taking his official retirement in 2007, although he did continued working as an electrician for friends and family. His fee was usually the cost of dinner and a bit of dark rum.  He spent years of enjoyment on his boat, fishing for pickerel in lakes across Manitoba and Northern Ontario, often including his kids both out of love, and to boost the limit of fish he could bring home.  When not out on a lake, John enjoyed travelling, classic cars, hockey; serving as president of the local hockey board for many years, and spending time with his grandkids and grand-puppies. He could be found weekly, meeting for breakfast with his friends, under the title of R.O.M.E.O (Retired Old Men Eating Out).

A private service will be held, and interment will take place at the Niverville Heritage Cemetery.

The family would like to express their appreciation of his doctors and nurses, the staff of Cancer Care in both Steinbach and Winnipeg, as well as the Niverville Pharmacy for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
