James Mayer

December 30, 1953 — December 31, 2021

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Mayer at his home, in late December 2021.

He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, workmates and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Jane, and his sister Kathy.

He grew up on the family farm near Anola, MB where he also farmed for a time, displaying a great love for animals. Jim was a born mechanic and started honing his skills at a very young age when he dismantled the pressure gauge on the new McLeod’s water pump at the age of five or six. He had a very interesting work history; hauling cattle locally, long distance truck driving for Praxair but mainly worked at shop maintenance and equipment repairs, for many years at Mayers Fibre Tube and Core, highway contracting and most recently for Accurate HD Ltd from which he had recently retired.

He loved his little acreage and large garden, sharing the bounty of vegetables, canning and pickling with family and friends. He loved the time he spent at Buffalo Point, hunting and fishing with his buddies.  The other highlights of his life were trips to Disneyland and Mexico with family.

A gathering for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
