It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Jake Wiebe age 77 years on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre.
Jake leaves to cherish his many memories, his loving wife of 30 years; Debora, two sons; Jake (Joni) and Dave (Katie), grandchildren; Jordan, Hunter, Jaxon, and Allison, one sister; Mary Beacham, three brothers; Henry, Peter, and Bill, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jake was predeceased by his parents; Henry and Mary, one brother; John, brother-in-law; Bob Beacham, and sisters-in- law; Doris and Lynne.
Jake married Debbie in 1995 and they began their family soon after. They were blessed with two sons, Jake Jr and Dave. The family was further blessed by the addition of daughters-in-law and grandchildren - Jake adored his four grandchildren immensely.
He attended Lister West school until grade 6. He was a visual learner and learned by watching others. Jake picked up easily on new tasks. He enjoyed helping others and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
Jake lived in Grunthal area for many years and farmed just outside of Grunthal for approximately 26 years. Jake and Debbie raised their boys in Grunthal and later moved to Woodridge for the last eight years. They were in the process of moving to New Bothwell when Jake wound up in hospital.
Over the years, Jake held several different jobs. He had his own eaves troughing business in his younger years. Jake worked as a mechanic for many years with the majority of those years being at Quick Start alongside his brother, Bill and nephews, Tom and Mac. He also worked as a welder at Northstar Industries for five years. Other jobs included working in heating and ventilation as well as at a hog farm for a few years.
Jake was very mechanically inclined and taught his sons what he knew. They spent a lot of time fixing vehicles, tractors and lawnmowers in his shop. Jake learned how to hunt from his father at an early age and passed this down to his sons. He also enjoyed hunting with them. Jake also enjoyed fishing, whether it was shore fishing in Manitoba with Debbie and his family or fishing on Lake of the Woods with his sister and brother-in-law. He enjoyed going for coffee at Red Wing Diner while he lived in Grunthal area. In Woodridge, he would often go for coffee with friend, John Hiebert.
The family would like to thank Ron Friesen who frequently visited Jake in hospital. Jake always spoke highly of Ron. A big thank you to Ron and Elaine and to Vernon and Curtis for all their support to the family during this difficult time. Thanks also go out to the Penner family for assisting in our parents’ recent move.
According to Jake's wishes, cremation will take place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire a donation can made be to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice
