Jackie Courteau

Suddenly, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Jackie Courteau passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 72. Jackie was predeceased by her parents Paul and Rolande, her sister Paulette, brother Denis and nephew Daniel.

Left to mourn is her son Kendal, along with her siblings Louis, Dan (Diane), sister-in-law Dawn, brother-in-law Claude, nieces and nephews, and other friends and relatives.

Jackie was born in Winnipeg, MB on January 12, 1954 to Paul and Rolande Courteau. Jackie was their third child of five. Growing up, Jackie had a love for animals, including a cat named Boo. Later in life, she also had a bird that she affectionately called Mr. Chips.

Jackie lived in several locations over her lifetime, and all who helped her move will distinctly remember lifting an oversized couch up the side of an apartment building with the use of ropes. She settled in her final apartment for quite a number of years before moving into a house in Transcona where she was the caregiver to her uncle, Gerry. It is in this location that Kendal Fillion came to live with her, and she took on his care and became his mom. Kendal lived with her until her passing.

A couple of things that Jackie was known for was making chocolate chip cookies and her love for all things Christmas. Decorating her Christmas tree brought her great joy. Through the years she enjoyed making homemade gifts for those around her. Another Christmas tradition she was fond of was singing as a family – first in her grandma’s care home, and then as a family at the gatherings. In her later years, Christmas was a time spent together with Kendal, making many memories.
