Gladwin Reimer

January 13, 1942 — November 25, 2023

Gladwin was born on January 13, 1942, to David P. and Elisabeth (Kornelson) Reimer in Kleefeld, Manitoba. He died peacefully, November 25, 2023, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre.         

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Johanna; one son Lowell and Connie Reimer; two daughters, Jacqueline Penner; Jennifer and Arlyn Friesen; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers, Leonard & Sue, Milton & Ruth , Edward & Arlene, Reuben, Gordon, Jones & Sharon, Murray & Gwen; 4 sisters, Dora & Bert Penner, Susie & Ed Barkman, Annie & Lorne Penner, Emily & Lauren Friesen; in-laws, Loren & Helen Reimer, Orlan & Sharon Reimer, Allen & Mavis Plett, Angela Unger; and numerous family and friends.

Gladwin was born on a farm NW of Kleefeld, Manitoba. When he was a lad at home, he helped his mother with taking care of his younger siblings, carrying water and firewood, and helping with the farm animals. He attended the Seaton School for a couple years and then went to Gruenfeld School until he quit to go to work.  As a young man, he got a job at Loewen Windows. The children can remember the smell of fresh cut wood on his clothes. He had numerous jobs in sales throughout Steinbach gaining many friends and acquaintances.  He will be remembered for his skill in selling tools and cars. When he retired, he continued selling out of his garage. He was a salesman until the end.

As a young man, he gave his heart to God and was faithful until the end. On September 22, 1963, he married Johanna, and they lived together for 60 years. They had 3 beautiful children, Lowell, Jacqueline & Jennifer.

Predeceased by his parents David P & Elizabeth Reimer, parents-in-laws John & Gertrude Reimer, sister Nellie Ginter and one sister in infancy.

A viewing will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Crossings Funeral Care with Sharing of Memories beginning at 7:00 pm. For those who are unable to attend in person the family invites you to join them through livestream for the Sharing of Memories. Please see the link below.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Steinbach Church of God in Christ Mennonite, 280 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, Manitoba. Viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Singing will begin at 10:15 am. The interment will follow in the Kleefeld Church of God in Christ Mennonite Cemetery.
