Elizabeth Larson

September 28, 1928 — May 27, 2026

We rejoice that our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Larson entered her eternal home on May 27, 2026 at the age of 97 years.

Elizabeth's family that mourns her loss, while celebrating her memory are; her children, Lewis (Deborah), Shirley (Dave) Maslen, David (Tammy), Dennis (Nicky) and Jerry (Terri); 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her husband Leroy, her third child, Keith, her granddaughter, Janine, her parents Ole and Karen Forseth, as well as all 8 of her siblings and their spouses.

Elizabeth Laurie Forseth was born on September 28, 1928 in Sexsmith AB. She grew up on a farm, learning to drive a tractor at a young age. She moved with her parents to Edmonton AB in 1944, where they were a part of the founding of Edmonton Gospel Temple (now Richfield Church). This relationship with the church was a very important part of the next 70+ years of her life. Through Temple Bible College she met Leroy Larson and they were married on August 22, 1947. During their 55 years of marriage Elizabeth and Leroy lived in various places in AB and SK before settling in Edmonton again in 1976. After Leroy's passing she remained in Edmonton until she moved to Blumenort MB where she remained until moving into care facilities. Her final departure was from the Menno Home in Grunthal MB.

This description of a "full" life in no way describes Elizabeth. Mom was full of joy, approaching life with a lot of spunk and energy, primarily aimed at serving others. She worked on big projects - like building churches. When many volunteers showed up, she would work to make sure that they were fed. If only one or two would come, she might pick up tools and join in and help with the build. Yet she would also do the "small" things - like helping a young mother clean her house when the young children didn't seem to give her quite enough time. Well into her late 70's (early 80's), she was still climbing ladders to paint or clean. In addition, dozens (if not 100's) were blessed by her cooking, as she loved to have people over for meals - or maybe "just" waffles. Her full life was lived out of her strong faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ and a commitment to live out that life in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Elizabeth is being laid to rest next to her husband Leroy at the Westlawn Cemetery in Edmonton AB. Plans are still being determined for family memorial celebrations.

We give special thanks to the "family" of Richfield Church who supported mom in transition from independence to moving in with family. Many thanks to the staff of Menno Home who provided care for her in the past 3+ years. Thank-you to Crossings Funeral Care in Steinbach MB in the days from her passing until her body being "placed to rest".
