Denis Paul Goulet

Jan 4, 1951 — Oct 12, 2026

In Loving Memory of Denis Paul Goulet. We are saddened by the passing of our brother, Denis Paul Goulet, peacefully, with family by his side, on October 12, 2026, at RestHaven Care Home in Steinbach.

Denis was born in St-Pierre-Jolys on January 4, 1951, to Léopold and Léa Goulet (née Turenne).

Denis will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Roger Goulet (Sandy), Claude Goulet (Lucie), Denise Hince (Gilbert), Doris Smith (Doug), and Marc Goulet (Lynne), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Léopold and Léa Goulet; his stepfather, Laurent Hébert; his niece, Lynne Bérard; and his great-nephew, Dylan Bérard.

Denis completed his Bachelor of Social Work in 1973. He began his career in Toronto, where he worked for several years before returning to Winnipeg to join the Province of Manitoba. He dedicated many years to public service before retiring in December 2006. Retirement gave Denis the opportunity to pursue the many interests he loved. He was a talented handyman who enjoyed carpentry and home improvement projects, generously sharing his skills with friends and neighbours. He also loved windsurfing on lakes throughout Manitoba and was an avid cyclist with a deep passion for making cycling safer in Winnipeg. Denis put that passion into action by serving on a community stakeholder planning committee that helped shape the city's active transportation network. He contributed to the integration of the Chief Peguis Trail cycling paths into the broader Northeast Pioneers Greenway network, leaving a lasting contribution to his community. Denis took great pride in working on his Ford truck, a favourite pastime that brought him much satisfaction.

He also enjoyed tending his community garden, where his hard work produced an abundance of vegetables. He generously donated much of his harvest to local food banks, reflecting his caring nature and desire to help others. Music was another of Denis's great loves. He had an extensive record collection and enjoyed sharing his passion for music by playing his many records as a DJ for friends. Whether working with his hands, riding his bike, tending his garden, or sharing music with others, Denis found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in the friendships he built along the way.

In 2023, as his illness progressed, Denis spent a year at The Chalet Malouin in St-Malo before moving to RestHaven Care Home in Steinbach, where he spent his final years. During his time there, he enjoyed several bicycle rides with a volunteer driver. These outings brought Denis tremendous happiness and were a highlight of his time in Steinbach.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at both The Chalet Malouin and RestHaven Care Home for the kindness, compassion, and excellent care Denis received. Special thanks go to the volunteer who took Denis on bicycle rides, bringing him so much joy. The family will always be grateful for the time and thoughtfulness that made these special moments.

A private burial is planned, and his final resting place will be in the St. Malo Cemetery, St. Malo, Manitoba.
