Arthur Clare Wilson

December 16, 1938 — April 20, 2023

Arthur (Clare) Wilson peacefully passed through the veil to be with his heavenly Father at 9:35 pm on April 20, 2023.

Arthur Clare Wilson was born December 16, 1938 in Sarnia Ontario to Arthur C. (Sam) Wilson and Pearl (Remington) Wilson.

He is predeceased by his mother Estella Priscilla (Pearl) Remington, father Arthur C. (Sam) Wilson, step mother Margaret (Peggy) Wilson, step mother Lucy Wilson, sister Audrey Ostrihon, brother-in-law Paul Ostrihon, brother Tim Wilson, sister Randi Wilson and daughter Twila Wilson.

Dad attended and graduated from Sarnia Collegiate and Technical School in Sarnia. As a young man he began selling papers in the area and increased the circulation of the paper over a hundred-fold. Dad would go on to be a successful salesman and manager, first selling encyclopedias for Grollier and then being recruited by Britannica, and finally moving to top management positions, earning many award pins in recognition of his sales achievements.

Dad was a proud father and he loved his children, Debbie, Patti, Twila, Crystal (Nathan), grandchildren (Sarah, Beckett, William) and great grandchildren very much. Dad also deeply loved his sweetheart Valarie who was such a wonderful support to him and loved her children and grandchildren who brought him so much joy. Love you more.

Most of all, dad put his faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior and shared the message of grace with many people throughout his life. Dad would encourage all of us when we faced challenges to take it to the Lord in prayer.

Art oversaw the reopening of the Lighthouse Mission in downtown Winnipeg and later opened The Mission House in order to serve those who needed a helping hand. His door was always opened and he never turned anyone away who needed a hand or a hot meal.

Dad loved to sing and dance and was well known to join in with a hearty strong voice, whether singing his favorite country classics with the band or hymns and songs to the Lord. He encouraged many though song in his last years in hospital and the personal care home. His sense of humor, positivity and faith will be remembered by many.

Thank you very much to the staff and volunteers at Menno Home in Grunthal Manitoba for honoring and caring for dad with compassion in his final years.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the family home. (47-5th Avenue South in Niverville, Manitoba) For those unable to attend in person, the family invites you to join them through livestream. Please click here to view the service.

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting,
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion--
For more than conquerors we are!

His Word shall not fail you--He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
