It is with deep sorrow that the family of Alex Galler announces his passing on October 6, 2025, at the age of 90.
Alex is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Susie (Karl) Heymann, granddaughters Kirsten (Bryan), Monika (Nitish), great-grandchildren Lily, Ivan and Nova. Sisters Marianne (Heiner) Niens, Victoria Kohnke as well as In-laws Philip (Cheryl) Sproule, Lori Sproule, Hilton Sproule, Diana Sproule and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by parents Bernard and Antonia Galler, In-laws Harry and Jennie Sproule, sister and brother-in-law Alice and Karl Buchart, brother in-law Jurgen Kohnke, in-laws Reg and Jeanne Sproule, Ralph Sproule, Marilyn Sproule and stepson Howard Bailey.
Born in Germany on April 13, 1935, Alex spent his early years in wartime Europe. In 1957 he immigrated to Canada, where he built a successful career in plant management. Known for his leadership and dedication, Alex earned great respect throughout his career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alex had a lifelong passion for sports, both as a player and a spectator. He was also an avid bridge player, valued for his keen mind and love of the game. Alex approached life with energy and good humor, and he took great joy in time spent with family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
